About

The “Labour and Family Economy” working group was established in 2016 as part of the European Labour History Network (https://socialhistoryportal.org/elhn/wg-family). It followed the organization by Cristina Borderias and Manuela Martini of the session “Gender, Labour and Modern History: What’s New in Europe?” at the first European Labour History Network conference in Turin (December 14-16, 2015). Some of the presentations were published in the journal Genesis XV/2, 2016 in the special issue: “Per una nuova storia del lavoro. Genere, economie, soggetti” https://www.viella.it/rivista/9788867287949.

Several sessions were subsequently organized during the congresses help in Paris 2017, Amsterdam 2019, Vienna 2021, and Uppsala 2024, some in collaboration with other groups (Labour and Feminist History, Labour in Mining, Maritime Labour History).
